Some nightclubs have a dress code. This one checks your cytokines.

A cytokine approaches the velvet rope. A targeted therapy is on door duty. Behind them, the synovium is very much awake—and what happens inside can change a patient’s life. Welcome to Club Synovium, part of the expanding RheumaView Learning Lab: interactive medical education with the atmosphere of a strange night out and the clinical questions of a real rheumatology practice.

The joke is the setting. The mechanisms are the lesson.

Instead of memorizing isolated drug names, you connect a molecular target to its downstream effects, then follow the consequences into treatment selection, monitoring, adverse effects and difficult clinical trade-offs. The club’s imaginary staff make the pathways easier to picture; the decisions still demand serious reasoning.

One visit might involve cytokines and targeted treatments. Another takes you behind the scenes of conventional DMARDs or into the synovial tissue itself. Other scenarios bring reproductive planning, infection risk or difficult-to-treat disease into the conversation. Each interactive experience has its own focus, and the collection is designed to keep growing.

There are challenges to work through, feedback to learn from, and opportunities to return to a decision with a better understanding of why an option does or does not fit. It is useful for medical students, residents, rheumatology fellows and practicing physicians who want to revisit immunology and therapeutics without another passive slide deck.

More nights. More clubs. More diseases.

Club Synovium is not a finished, fixed-length course. New experiences can join an existing club as the teaching grows. And RheumaView Learning Lab will expand beyond rheumatoid arthritis: new clubs will explore other rheumatic diseases, anatomical settings, immunologic pathways and clinical dilemmas.

Club Enthesis is now being written. The setting moves toward the enthesis—the meeting point of tendon or ligament and bone—and opens a different way to explore the biology and reasoning associated with spondyloarthritis. Other disease-focused and mechanism-focused clubs will follow. Their scope will expand with the material, rather than being constrained by a preset module count.
