A six-stage walkthrough of how a BAFF-directed monoclonal antibody deprives autoreactive B-cells of survival signaling and flags them for immune clearance.
The bound antibody works in two complementary ways: it blocks the BAFF-receptor interaction, cutting off the survival signal that sustains autoreactive B-cells, and the antibody-coated cells are flagged for immune clearance (ADCC). Together these reduce the pathogenic B-cell pool and restore immune balance.
