You know the criteria. The patient still makes you think. A laboratory result points one way; the history pulls another. The treatment worked until the next visit changed the question. These are the moments that make medicine demanding—and worth studying.

The professional section of Rheumatology in Perspective was built around that kind of thinking. Created by Olga Goodman, MD, a practicing rheumatologist with five U.S. board certifications, it brings together clinical writing, evidence, imaging and original interactive learning in one connected publication. Professional material is in English.

A collection you can follow into depth

Start with a focused overview, follow a question into a detailed chapter, then test your reasoning in a case. The collections cover inflammatory arthritis, Sjögren’s disease, systemic sclerosis, myositis, vasculitis, crystal arthritis, early autoimmunity, cardiovascular involvement and pain and fatigue beyond inflammation. True Rheumatic Emergencies has its own reading and practice pathways.

The value is in the connections: between a finding and its limitations, a classification framework and a clinical diagnosis, an attractive treatment option and the evidence supporting it. Sources and uncertainties belong beside the argument. Readers can follow the reasoning rather than stop at the conclusion.

Professional Essentials provides a practical starting point: concise clinical overviews, open to everyone without registration, with links into the deeper collections.

Put your first impression to work

The original Interactive Journeys, clinical quizzes and simulations ask you to participate. Read the chart. Decide what matters. Use the available hints. Make a choice, then examine the explanation and the alternatives.

Different formats exercise different habits. A clinic simulation asks you to move between patients. A longitudinal journey lets the clinical picture change over time. CASCADE connects therapeutic mechanisms with evidence and treatment reasoning. The written collections give you somewhere useful to go when a case exposes a gap.

Try the open Psoriatic Arthritis Clinic or visit Clinical Challenge. For exam preparation, use a case to practise explaining why your answer fits. For experienced clinicians, try the subject you are certain you already know.

What a free professional account adds

Registration is free; a paid subscription is a separate choice. Create a Free Member account and select Healthcare professional in your reading profile. That gives you a starting point for the site’s registered-reader opportunities.

Read material marked “Free after sign-in.” Selected professional reading is available to registered readers without a paid plan. The access label on each resource tells you what is required.

Use eligible complimentary access codes. Registered professionals can redeem offers that open selected sections or the Professional educational collection for a limited period. Each offer defines its scope, duration and eligibility; registration alone does not unlock every subscription resource.

Invite a colleague and earn time to explore. The existing professional invitation program awards a personal 24-hour Discovery Pass to both participants when a qualifying new professional registers and confirms their email through the invitation route. Inviter limits and activation deadlines apply; the program page and your account provide the current rules.

What is coming next

A dedicated collection of interactive modules for free registered accounts is in development. A separate game-earned rewards program is also planned: qualifying activities would let registered readers earn promotional access through successful completion. These are upcoming features, not benefits already active across the site. Release announcements will explain which activities qualify and what they unlock.

Choose how far you want to go

Open reading, Professional Essentials and designated demos let you explore before joining. A free account adds access to eligible registered-reader material and programs. The full paid collections follow the Professional membership, Discovery Pass and access-code rules shown on the site.

There is also a useful bridge back to the consultation room: patient explanations, tools and stories in English, Russian, Spanish and Polish. Share the appropriate patient link when the next step is helping someone understand the question you have just worked through.

Choose one topic. Try one case. Follow the explanation back to the evidence. If it makes you reconsider a familiar question, you have found a good reason to return.

Access information checked October 10, 2026. The publication is expanding during its October opening period. Educational activities support clinical learning; no CME accreditation or examination outcome is implied.
